Jessica Gouge

Jessica Gouge has been immersed in the dance community for over 23 years. She began her career as an Atlanta native where she studied Ballet, Pointe, Contemporary, Lyrical, Jazz, Hip Hop, Musical Theatre, Tap, and Aerial Arts at various schools state wide.

A passion for performing led her on to national tours, cruise lines, commercials, music videos, television, and movies. As an experienced performer Jessica’s passion shifted  from performance to choreography, script supervising, production and teaching which soon became the epicenter of her career. She has a passion for inspiring students, promoting artistic growth, producing strong athletes, as well as avid technicians.

Jessica’s mission is to teach with excellence and build well rounded students. She wishes to promote positivity in the dance community and create memorable and innovative choreography.

Bernice Drothler

Director & Instructor  Director of A Step Ahead, Bernice Drothler, has been teaching dance for nearly 30 years. She has owned and directed A Step Ahead Performing Arts Studio since it opened in 1999. Bernice received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Michigan State University, and is certified to teach by Dance Masters of America.

Cameron Brake

Cameron Brake has been dancing since age 3, training in various styles such as ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, pointe, and hip-hop. She started dancing at A Step Ahead in 2011 and competed with their Performing & Competitive Dance Company.  She graduated in  2017, and began teaching soon after. Cameron has both a passion for teaching and performing,  and hopes to see both in her future.   Cameron is very excited to be teaching again this summer! 

Sydney Katoe

 Sydney Katoe  has trained in dance at A Step Ahead for 11 years, and in  voice, acting, and theatre for 8 years. She has performed in ASAMT's Productions of The Wizard of Oz, (Dorothy) Into the Woods, (Cinderella) Peter Pan, (Tinkerbell) and The Little Mermaid (Ariel) and many more.  As a young intern, she learned that she enjoys being behind the stage as much as she  on it. Within the past 5  years she has taken on technical and production positions in the theatre community which include assistant directing, stage management, wardrobe supervising,  and others. Ms. Katoe has loved learning and growing in the arts, and in life at A Step Ahead Studio and  continues providing guidance and nurturing each student's talent in the same way.
